In a previous thread, JNOREM proposed/re-introduced a tuning scheme where all the notes of a diatonic tuned in the style referred to as RICHTER were shifted over one (1) slot. It is sort of a variation of the SBS. So on a 10 hole diatonic in (C), the tuning would be as follows:
G C E G C E G C E G B D G B D F A B D F
One advantage to the tuning is that you get a full three (3) octaves of 2nd position play starting on 1 blow. The other advantage is that it allows the building of a harmonica in a higher range. In the sample below, I'm playing a HIGH A all stainless Seydel 1847. Seydel builds a HIGH A, but only in brass. By shifting the notes over 1 slot, it gets the reeds into shorter lengths for their pitch. In this case, I still had to do some 1/2 step retuning. Pretty neat to get a high octave (A) and not feel like the playing is in the same range as the notoriously loud lead guitar players.
I see this working well for HIGH A and HIGH G if anyone is interested, email me.
