Picked up the 3 CD Big Walter set. Unlike the other 2 CD's the bonus CD with Carey Bell doesn't have track-by-track information about who and when. Does anyone have vinyl that might have been released 40 years ago indicating the musicians and when and where the recording took place? The sound is a bit rough but the harps and vocals are at the front and very easy to hear with the bass but the drums and guitar are somewhat less distinct.

Wouldn't have guessed it was recorded in a studio. Sounds more like a house party in front of a small audience. Maybe they were going after ambience instead of sound quality.

Seaching the web I found a PDF written by Jim Themelis with the help from many well known musicians including Big Walter himself. The article says Walter Horton – The Deep Blues Harmonica of Walter Horton (6 of 7) Chicago is a late 1960’s live radio broadcast (more likely recorded in Jan. 1973 Cambridge, MA) featuring Walter Horton (Vocal, Harmonica), Carey Bell (Harmonica), John Nicholas (Guitar), Sarah Brown (Bass) and Fran Christina (Drums).
Given the sound quality this might more accurately represent the CD that's part of this set. But still fuzzy as it doesn't know if the recording is late 1960's or 1973. Is it possible Harpaholic has a different CD with both Big Walter and Carey Bell? And how did Fran Christina get this gig?
