I had the opportunity to see Johnny Dyer several times as part of Mark Hummel's Harp Blowouts. He was a bad ass old school singer. His recordings demonstrated his significant prowess as a harp player in the Little Walter vein. It's too bad more of you aren't hip to him. ---------- The Blues Photo Gallery

Johnny Dyer "Jukin'" is one of my all time favorite recordings, on Blind Pig Records. I also like Johnny Dyer "Shake It!" featuring Rick Holmstrom on Black Top Records. He was a great harp player :)

Yes, yes. Johnny was definitely old school, Joe. He had it down pat. Damn good. ---------- Ricky B http://www.bushdogblues.blogspot.com RIVER BOTTOM BLUES--crime novel for blues fans available at Amazon/B&N and my blog THE DEVIL'S BLUES--ditto HOWLING MOUNTAIN BLUES--due out early 2015

That is a shame. Dyer was a SoCal fixture for a good long run. RIP.
