This man was one of Southern California Harmonica legends.

I had the opportunity to see Johnny Dyer several times as part of Mark Hummel's Harp Blowouts. He was a bad ass old school singer. His recordings demonstrated his significant prowess as a harp player in the Little Walter vein. It's too bad more of you aren't hip to him.

Johnny Dyer "Jukin'" is one of my all time favorite recordings, on Blind Pig Records. I also like Johnny Dyer "Shake It!" featuring Rick Holmstrom on Black Top Records. He was a great harp player :)

Yes, yes. Johnny was definitely old school, Joe. He had it down pat. Damn good.

That is a shame. Dyer was a SoCal fixture for a good long run. RIP.
