Does anyone know who makes the best re-issue 5U4GB tube?

This tube will make VERY little difference in tone from vendor to vendor. The differences will come only from the slightly different DC voltages produced by various tubes (and how your particular amp responds to that.) The tube is ONLY responsible for turning AC into DC - it is not in the audio signal path at all.

Why buy a reissue when original NOS American 5u4 rectifiers are plentiful and cheap. No Chinese or Eastern European tube will be as good as an old RCA , GE , Raytheon or Westinghouse tube. No kidding on this- great brand new 40 - 50 year old 5u4 tubes can be had for $10 or less.
