Naturally, I love the Blues played on a harp. But I've been studying the ethnic music of my country. I am talking Polka music. Getting the harp to match the tempo is quite a challenge; especially if future plans include performing an entire show with the band. Reeds would take a beating, IMO.

I don't know any pure polkas to play them. I can play Oom-pa-pa from Oliver though. Tongue blocking to play the melody on the right side of the mouth while doing something approximating the oom-pas on the left seems to work pretty well.

Remember, if you are amplified your reeds never need to take a real beating.

I think polkas are a lot closer to the musical design intent of the harmonica than what the Sonny Boys and the Walters were doing with them.
