Yeah, as simulators go it was only so so. More to the point they weren't really playing a riff you'd play with harp. But it's sort of a one size fits all attempt, not a specialized piece of kit.
I actually thought some of the quick little punches in the beginning of the video and the little shake emulation sounded very much like harmonica. I think if used in this way it could be very effective.
A better example would have been to play a well known harmonica part.
Same deal with the Hammond B3 pedal. I did a gig with a guy that used the Hammond B3 pedal to great effect during a specific song. It really sounded like we had keys playing on that song, but it had a lot to do with the player re-approaching the guitar as if he was playing a B3. ---------- Ridge's YouTube
Im just super happy someone WANTS to hear a harp bad enough to make a pedal for it! We should be FLATTERED and stoked! Like Martin said What would a harp sound like through it??? ---------- www.mooncat.org
Well, to be fair, it's two pedals, in the video. And my opinion is that playing the harmonica is much more satisfying than trying to recreate the sound with pedal. I play guitar much better than I do harmonica--if I want a harmonica sound, I play harmonica.
Gnarly, but you are a multi-instrumentist! I love playing with effects to sound like brass or a sax, but I have no intention of learning to play them (well, I can play a very, very tiny amount of brass.)
(That said, if I woke up tomorrow without wrist problems I'd start learning piano, and if my apartment had room I'd learn some more drums. :) )
Edit- And ridge, I agree, it sounded better in the very start. I think it had a lot to do with what they are playing.
