Hi,
don't have "squeal killer" yet ??
has any one used other pedals with squeal killer?
ie; lone wolf delay, LW octave or break, sonic stop?

And has any one tried [Lw Shield] in conjunction with Squeal Killer"", since shield is just a "noise gate" geared for harp?
probably stupid questions

But got a new Peavy classic 50 4x10 for harp and or guitar for loud band situations.
would have bought a used Fender Bassman but $$$ and peavy has reverb
may swap tubes, speakers at a later date but for now its fine and 'loud'
thanks

I use a Boss GE-7 EQ pedal with the 16k slider all the way down. Works like magic! I had mine reworked by Modest Mike's Mods and it was worth the $55 twice over. Check out my video under "Taming the Wild Excelsior" for a demonstration of the GE-7 in line with an Excelsior and a Kalamazoo.
Hope this helps.

LW Octave has solved the problem for me. It isn't magic but it will manage the 15% more necessary to get what I need out of an amp. Yours may be an extra challenge though. I'm using Greg's new element (in a JT shell w/vc), an Xotic EP boost, Octave and LW delay. The mic is really hot so it takes so balancing but it really does sound nice. The Octave just gives me good control. I rarely use any of it's effect.
Usual stage amps are a Fender Concert or a Peavy Valve King -which sounds great.

So how would the EQ pedal compare to say a Harp Shield, Squeal killer or Kinder for fighting feedback.....has anyone done a comparison?

Also would you get more volume before feedback?

Thanks!!

I can't address the comparisons because I've not used the other two pedals. But I can tell you the eq pedal allows me substantially more volume before feedback and lets me run the amp tone control well into the treble range.

I also use a Boss GE 7 EQ pedal and it does the Feedback control thing excellently.(and a lot cheaper than some of the dedicated feedback pedals)
Often it only takes a small adjustment to the offending frequency to give you more headroom.
I wish i had of had one when i was playing in a band...would of saved me a lot of hassle in trying to get some decent volume without verging on feedback all the time.
I read somewhere that Madcat uses one for the same purpose.

Thanks for the great advice.

I'll give one a try....I'm playing with a loud band now and have been going through the PA because even a mic'd Bassman wasn't enough!
