I took a spare vocal mic and turned it into a rack mounted (semi)-lightweight vocal mic. I documented the process for those who might be interested. I would be very curious to here input from other members on the forum on how to improve the design. Thanks!
I love your ingenuity and very nice job on the video.
A couple of things came to mind during the build:
1: You might want to file a groove around the adapter where you plan to use a twisted wire connection. That will expose the brass beneath the chrome plate. This will give you a better physical connection and also allow for a permanent solder connection instead of the riskier twisted wire connection.
2: Replace bands with zip ties. Or better yet use some heat shrink tubing. Heat shrink comes in a various diameters and can commonly shrink down to 1/4 diameter using heat. The best type for this build is the adhesive type. The tubing will give a very secure and nice finished look. It is permanent but can be sliced off use a razor knife.
It may be difficult to find larger diameter adhesive shrink tubing at a common retail store. Mouser.com or Digitkey.com should have what you would need.
