I have been using Teflon gaskets on my golden melodies and they are great. I was wondering if anyone uses any sort of liquid gasket material.
Thanks!

I use aftermarket combs on my Golden Melodys. When I assemble I use a very light coating of vasoline on the comb. Does not gum anything up, and is not permanent. Seals any sanding marks on the drawplate or comb.

How do you like those Teflon gaskets... I’m considering trying a set on a SP 20. Is there a noticeable improvement in air tightness? What kind of longevity do they have.

Gaskets are so 1990s. Better to flat sand the comb. ---------- The 2019 Harmonica Collective in November Harmonica lessons with one of the world's foremost experts Check out my blog and other goodies at winslowyerxa.com Harmonica For Dummies, Second Edition with tons of new stuff SPAH 2020 convention in Saint Louis, August 11-15

Winslow is correct and not one reputable harp customizer uses any of these things at all. I wuldn't maste money on them and get it done right the first time. Besides, some of that material can leech out and you may wind up breathing that crap in and that alone is a safety hazard as well as a health hazard. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

I once used silicone on a Johnson. Very aromatic.
