Hi, I don't get many videos of the band i can share, and this one is probably marginal too. I'm sorry its only the old done to death Juke but it is what it is The sound is not representative of the balance either as the recorder was 2 inches above the floor of the stage, at the base of my mic stand, so my amp which is sitting at floor level is pointing straight at it while the bass is angled upwards and the guitar is pointed forwards a couple of meters toward the camera. oh well, at least the harp is audible
Nice work! Your movement with the music looks really natural and comfortable. not dramatic or distracting. You indicated that the sound isn't representative, but I got the impression that your drummer is under control. I'm inspired to get back to work on Juke. Thanks ---------- Phil Pennington
Thanks all. 99, far too long really, but once I got to the 3rd chorus I think it began to seem less daunting. I asked a player I respect how he’d learned to play diatonic so well and after a moment he said ‘I think I just played Juke about 1000 times. It’s all in there, if you listen ... if you listen properly’.
Fil, the drummer has never been accused of playing too loudly. He has only been playing about 3 years. I was introduced to him as a rock guitarist who was very skilled at AC/DC covers. It’s thanks to him that I have this recording; he records it all. Wheel, thank you so much. You’re videos are always inspirational for me. EetechTom, much appreciated. Happily for us the venue paid us so we were not reliant on tips this time.
Well done. Really dug it. Post more from this gig if you can. I thought the sound was fine. would love to hear a couple of others. Maybe some Butter if you covered any of those tunes.

Thanks you both, Jbone, and, Kingobad. I still remember you playing this in the rack that night at Foxfire, Kingobad. I was about halfway into learning it at that time, and that was fairly inspiring.
Superbee: Is this a very expensive camera w/ external mic and such? It (also!) sounds good from a purely sound perspective, so I guess it´s not a telephone being used here?
George, I’ll get right onto it. It’s actually on my list but sometimes I face resistance from the band re instrumental works.
Thanks, DanP. I have never grown tired of it either, but sometimes I worry others may have. Thanks Grey Owl, good to hear from you. Kingley, thanks for taking time to listen and comment. I appreciate it.
Hi Martin. The sound is from a Zoom H1, the cheapest recorder they make. It was on a tiny tripod sitting on floor of stage near the base of my mic stand. My amp is also on the floor over behind the bass player but pointed toward me. The drummer made this video, synching the separately recorded video with audio.
He made a few others but you can really hear the disparity of guitar and vocals compared to harp on those. It doesn’t stand out quite so starkly on this because the harp is obviously up front the whole time, but on a song with guitar lead it is quite weird to hear the comping harp really strong and the guitar at background level. It doesn’t reflect the room sound, it’s the sound 2 inches off the floor down by my feet. In fact, it’s not even what I was hearing as I could hear a lot more bass and guitar up around my head. Guitar speaker was raised on a milk crate and pointed out to the room and bass was a mark bass tilt cab. Foh sound was all mixed through PA so would have been much better, but if you put a simple recorder out there you get all the audience noise.
Now, that's how a band should play to support the harmonica player! Much easier to play at that controlled volume than try to fight LOUD... ---------- The Iceman
Logansays, Thank you, GamblersHand, Ted, thank you for checking it out. I'd love to get more video of the band. Catching the sound is always the problem. The rest of the songs from this show are ok for me but the sound imbalance thanks to mic placement is much more distracting in songs with vocals and where the guitar should be up and the harp behind.
