The title says it all: you're going to a solitary island and can only take one harp with you - which key will it be in? (Don't say "key X, because I know the most songs in that key", this is about the sound you like best :)).

If it had to be one, and it has nothing to do with useful keys, Probably Bb. Not sure why, just sounds good to my ear.

I only have a C and G...I can't tell the tones of all of the keys by ear yet because I am 1.5 months deep into this, so I must say G.

It would come down to a choice between an A and a G because I like the lower key harps best. I think they have a full, rich sound that the higher keys don't. I also really like train rhythms and chugging, and these sound much better on lower harps. I would probably go for a G as my one and only harp.

Bb of course. It's the best key. I'm surprised you needed to ask :)

I really don't know that I have such a thing, based simply on how it sounds. It's too dependant on what I want to play. g, F, Bb, A, C, D, Ab; all hold charm for me. And I suspect E and Eb and B and Db too, if I ever played them. And F# which I play so seldom I almost forget it exists.

The same one, as the rest of the band are playing in! Sorry couldn't resist. Seriously I like the lower keys so A is always a favourite. Low D is also great.

My taste in favorite key has changed a few times. Bb was my favorite for a while. But I would have to say A now.
I really like the tone I can get our of an A harp

Right now Bb, G and A. Since I've switched to marine band from lee oscars I haven't gotten a mb Bb yet (I also may get a Manji in that key first cause I want to try one)

I've got BBQ's in Hammond, SP20 with a Blue Moon anodized aluminum comb and a Hohner Blue Midnight. I like them all but I'd probably take the Hammond to the island.
My second choice would be a D. I know it's a higher key but I like it. I've got a D in Big River with a Blue Moon Corian comb and a Easttop. I actually like the Easttop better OOTB. I thought about the lowD I've got in Thunderbird. It's cool but it has a lot of "rattle" at least he bottom end even with the roomier cover plate.

If only one KEY it would have be G. If only one HARP is would be this Seydel Orchestra in Low C. Two full octaves & four low notes. Then again...there's this lady I've had my eye on... but I digress.
